Assistant Lecturer – ARH/96/2024

The Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences invites applications for the position of Assistant Lecturer for 1-year fixed-term contract.

The starting date is autumn semester 2024.

Job description and key duties:

Teaching and mentoring activities:

  • Teaching courses in the field of Communication and Media Science belonging to the portfolio of the Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences in weekly class hours as defined by the University’s Academic Career Model;
  • Contributing to the continuous enhancement of teaching programmes;
  • Student mentoring and talent management at the BA and MA levels.

Research activities:

  • Active contribution to the research portfolio of the Department of Communication and Media Science, especially in the area of visual communication, AI and digital media;
  • Participation at conferences;
  • Quality publication outputs that meet the publication requirement of the doctoral programme;
  • Submission of final PhD thesis.

Service:

  • Actively participating in the professional life of the Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences and the University, and perform service-related tasks as determined by the Head of the Institute and the Chair of the Department of Communication and Media Science.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Successful comprehensive exam (also referred to as admission to candidacy or PhD qualifying exam) in a doctoral programme; 
  • Minimum 3 years of higher education teaching experience in the area of Communication Science, with knowledge of teaching in English; 
  • Proven track record of quality journal articles and/or book chapters (min. 3).

Desirable criteria:

  • Higher education teaching experience in the areas of visual communication and digital/creative media;
  • Experience in mentoring students at the BA and MA levels in the form of thesis/TDK supervision;
  • Experience in conference organisation;
  • Proven track record of quality publication in the form of Q1-Q3 journal articles and/or Hungarian category “A” journal articles;
  • Competent use of image/video editing and graphic software programmes;
  • Experience in and commitment to university service activities (such as committee memberships, event organisation, etc.).

Documents and certificates to be submitted as part of the application:

  • Detailed curriculum vitae including the detailed presentation of the teaching, research and service activities and results;
  • Cover letter, including the presentation of future academic plans (educational, teaching development and research plans);
  • References written by at least two reputable leading professors or researchers of the discipline (signed, scanned);
  • Research paper
  • Scanned copies of the documents verifying the university degree and of the documents verifying other professional qualifications.
