The Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences announces an open call for applications for the Assistant Lecturer position for 1 year definite period.

The starting date is autumn semester 2024.

Job description and key duties:

Teaching and mentoring activities

  • Teaching courses in the field of Communication and Media Science belonging to the portfolio of the Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences in weekly class hours as defined by the University’s Academic Career Model;
  • Contributing to the continuous enhancement of teaching programmes;
  • Student mentoring and talent management at the BA and MA levels.
  • The applicant is expected to take part in the teaching and curriculum development of the following and related subjects: Communication – creating connections as designing, Creative and media planning for extraordinary organisations; Communication design for dynamic and sustainable identities

Research duties:

  • Contribution to the research activities of the Marketing and Designcommunication research group including research as design development.
  • Assisting design-driven, action oriented educational development research projects.

Service duties:

  • Actively participate in the professional life of the Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences and the University and perform service-related tasks as determined by the Head of the Institute and the Chair of the Department of Marketing and Design Communications.

Essential criteria:

  • Successful comprehensive exam (also referred to as: admission to candidacy or PhD qualifying exam) in a doctoral programme; 
  • higher education teaching/ research experience; 
  • experience in the teaching of at least one course in English
  • Proven track record of quality journal articles and/or book chapters (min. 3 MTA listed or Scopus article).

Desirable criteria:

  • comprehensive exam (also referred to as admission to candidacy or PhD qualifying exam) passed in a doctoral programme; 
  • higher education teaching/ research experience in design-driven and action-oriented subjects
  • experience in the teaching of at least one design-related course (preferably both in Hungarian and in English); 
  • creative industries related practice;
  • transdisciplinary background: marketing and applied art-related backgrounds (e.g. art directorship in advertising, graphic design, photo and video).

Documents and certificates to be submitted as part of the application:

  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae
  • Presentation of the teaching, research and service performance and activities in three separate documents
  • Cover letter, including the presentation of future academic plans (educational, teaching development and research plans)
  • References written by at least two reputable leading professors or researchers of the discipline (signed, scanned)
  • Working paper
  • Scanned copies of the documents verifying the university degree, scientific rank (eg. PhD degree), documents verifying other professional qualifications. (In case of scientific ranks obtained abroad, the nostrification will be arranged in the next phase of the selection procedure.)
