The Institute of Social and Political Sciences announces an open call for applications for the Assistant Professor position for 3 years definite period with the possibility of extension for indefinite period.

The starting date is autumn semester 2025.

Teaching duties:

Research duties:

  • Cutting-edge research on one of the following fields: comparative political economy with a strong profile in economic and political transitions, democratisation and autocratisation; economic and political cycles and crises; 20th-century European history, with an emphasis on Eastern-Central Europe, theories of state and constitutions, territorial politics, national and sub-national politics, politics and governance

Service duties:

  • Fostering the research culture of the institute by mentoring colleagues and extending the international network of the institute

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • doctorate;
  • at least 3 years of teaching and research experience gained in higher education, or at least 3 years of professional experience
  • adequately prepared to teach at the required level of standard (has the knowledge, experience, and foreign language skills) in the discipline of the courses
  • research achievement, regular domestic and international publications
  • the candidate must meet the job requirements set out in the Corvinus Academic Career Model. 

Desirable criteria:

  • Feedback (student evaluation, evaluation of direct supervisor) verifying teaching excellence
  • International teaching experience
  • Experience gained in international research projects including ongoing research, publications under review, project proposal in progress
  • Experience in organisation of research projects
  • Participation in domestic and international conferences
  • Considerable publication results
  • PhD obtained at a university with remarkable international ranking (ARWU)

Documents and certificates to be submitted as part of the application:

  • Curriculum Vitae including the detailed presentation of the teaching, research and service activities and results
  • Summary table of achievements (please fill in the Summary Excel Table for assistant professor applications – you can find the table at the bottom of this page)
  • Cover letter, including the presentation of future academic plans (educational, teaching development and research plans)
  • References written by at least two reputable leading professors or researchers of the discipline (signed, scanned)
  • Research paper
  • Scanned copies of the documents verifying the university degree, scientific rank (eg. PhD degree) and of the documents verifying other professional qualifications. (In case of scientific ranks obtained abroad, the nostrification will be arranged in the next phase of the selection procedure.)
