Assistant Professor – ARH-142/2024

Corvinus University of Budapest has over a 100-year-old history and is one of the leading universities in Hungary in Business and Management, Economics, and Social Sciences. We have around 11,500 students, of which, approximately 2,000 are international.

The Institute of Sustainable Development is looking for candidates for the Assistant Professor position for 3 years definite period.

The starting date is spring semester 2025

Job description and key duties:

Teaching duties:

  • At least 6 lessons (1 lesson = 45 minutes) per week on average of two semesters)

Research duties:

  • Regularly publishing research papers in the field of regional economics/economic geography in Q1/Q2 journals
  • Participating at important international and domestic conferences in regional economics/economic geography
  • Activity in obtaining grants and participating in international research projects

Service duties:

  • Active participation in the professional public life of the institute  and the university, performing service tasks determined by the Head of the Institute

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • PhD degree
  • higher education teaching/ research experience or research experience gained in research centre
  • proven academic publication activity and record

Desirable criteria:

  • PhD degree defended outside Hungary
  • Feedback (student evaluation, evaluation of direct supervisor) verifying teaching excellence
  • International teaching/coordination experience
  • Participation in domestic and/or international conferences
  • Participation in higher education training programmes

Documents and certificates to be submitted as part of the application:

  • Curriculum Vitae including a detailed presentation of teaching, research, and service activities and results
  • Cover letter, including the presentation of future academic plans (educational, teaching development, and research plans)
  • References written by at least two reputable leading professors or researchers of the discipline
  • Doctoral dissertation
  • Scanned copies of the documents verifying the university degree, scientific rank (e.g.. PhD degree) and of the documents verifying other professional qualifications. (In case of scientific ranks obtained abroad, the nostrification will be arranged in the next phase of the selection procedure.)
