Budapest Fintech Week is a community-focused event and is open to all free of charge. Organized by MBH Fintechlab, the Hungarian Fintech Association, Ergomania design agency, and BrightHills, it warmly welcomes anyone working, studying, or interested in fintech, startups, or banking.

“Today, simply standing on stage at a conference is not enough to foster business dialogue within the fintech ecosystem. Real connections are necessary; we need to understand each other’s stories, needs, and perspectives if we want to work together. This holds true for banks, startups, entrepreneurs, university students, and all those interested in financial services,” stated Zoltán Ács, CEO of MBH Fintechlab and President of the Hungarian Fintech Association. “Budapest Fintech Week aims to create an environment for networking, connection, and, above all, knowledge sharing in our region, as is already the case in major cities from London to Hong Kong and Boston.”

Topics of Discussion

The four-day event will cover topics such as the impact of artificial intelligence on banking, the banking habits of younger generations, cybersecurity, regulatory issues, and will feature presentations from numerous domestic and international startups.

Case Studies and International Startups

While Hungary and Central Europe are still emerging in the fintech world, the region hosts some compelling business stories. Attendees will get a first-hand look at these, such as Bankmonitor’s journey to becoming a market leader in digital mortgage services and a presentation from UK-based Freetrade on their freemium stock trading service. KPMG will delve into the financing of global financial technology companies and startups, focusing on regional trends and noteworthy Central European M&A case studies. Insurwiz will explore the effects of regulatory and technological developments on the insurance sector in the region.

Most sessions will be held in English, covering successful bank-fintech collaborations, regulatory impacts, and the global state of fintech. Several international delegations are expected to attend, with regional analyses complemented by Czech Trade and international fintech associations, as well as a Turkish delegation showcasing advanced fintech startups.

International Experts

At the Budapest Fintech Week opening on November 26, Dénes Bán, a recognized international venture capital expert with over 20 years of experience in single family offices and consulting across Asia, EMEA, the UK, and North America, will give a keynote speech, offering unique insights into the private investment landscape.

Another prominent speaker will be Neha Mehta, who addresses critical topics like financial systems sustainability and the evolution of financial technology. Founder of Femtech Partners, which focuses on women in the fintech sector, Mehta will lead a panel discussion in Budapest on this theme. She will also introduce her recent book, One Stop – The Untold Story of Super Apps, discussing the rise of super apps and their influence on commercial and financial ecosystems.

Artificial Intelligence

No professional event is complete without addressing AI. At Fintech Week, AI’s impact will be a focal point. Highlights include Bookkeepie’s presentation on AI-powered accounting and consulting services for entrepreneurs and Peak Parent&Child’s product that uses AI tools to teach financial literacy to young people in a highly personalized way.

Budapest Fintech Week 2024 offers a diverse program for those interested in financial innovation. Held from November 26-29, the event will cover topics including the evolution of digital finance, cryptocurrency regulations, and the future of customer experience and data security.
