REKK Workshop: Wind power potential and its impact on the power market in Hungary
The aim of this workshop is to provide a balanced debate about the role of wind power generation in Hungary.Date: 17 October 2023, 14:00-16:00
Venue: Corvinus University of Budapest, C Building, C316
While very rapid growth has been visible in PV development in Hungary (within a few years the installed capacity has grown to over 5 GW), the wind installed capacity has not changed since 2010. In the same period, the installed capacity tripled in Europe. One of the arguments of why new wind generation is banned in Hungary is the low potential. The aim of this workshop is to provide a balanced debate about the role of wind power generation in Hungary. A recently finished project conducted by the Austrian Institute of Technology and REKK, analyzed the technical potential of wind generation, and the impact of different wind penetration levels on the power sector.
At the workshop, we present the project results and discuss in a panel discussion possible pathways for wind energy generation in Hungary.
