World Science Forum 2024 – Science Diplomacy Conference Series
The World Science Forum 2024 - Science Diplomacy Conference Series and the Asia-Europe Young Researchers Seminar will be organized in collaboration with the Central European Scientific Society of Innovation and Technology (CESSIT), Tempus Public Foundation (TPF), Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), the Association of Hungarian PhD and DLA Candidates (DOSZ), Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB), Ludovika University of Public Service, and Edutus University. The events will serve as a forum for knowledge exchange and a platform to explore the future of collaboration in education, research, and development in the context of science diplomacy.Date: 18-20 November 2024

Day #1: 18th November 2024 (Monday)
Title: Academic Competitiveness: The Future of European Higher Education, Research, and Development – Perspectives of Early Career Researchers
Venue: University of Public Service, Main Building, Zrínyi Conference Hall
Description:
The first day conference will focus on the role and vision of early-career researchers in higher education and research, initiating a dialogue between higher education and RDI actors, sectoral governance, institutions and the organisations representing early-career researchers to explore how we can envision the future of higher education in Hungary and Europe, what tools and interventions are needed, and what good practices can be seen at the European, national and institutional levels.
Highlighted Panel: Collaboration and Competitiveness in Science & Technology Diplomacy (13:00 – 14:00)
The Panel will present the initial findings from the Asia-Europe Science & Technology Diplomacy Report. The Report maps out over 40 different country science and technology diplomacy strategies, priorities, policy tools, and their performance across countries in Asia and Europe, the European Union, and ASEAN. The panel discussions will provide insights from countries in Asia, providing perspectives on the approaches to Science Diplomacy in Asia, as well as provide recommendations for enhanced collaboration within and across the two regions.

The second day conference will feature lectures and discussions on critical themes such as city-led science diplomacy, the historical context of science diplomacy, innovation ecosystems, and future science diplomacy strategies. These sessions will provide insights into how local and city-level science diplomacy efforts contribute to broader international initiatives, delve into the evolution of science diplomacy across regions, explore successful models of innovation ecosystems, and discuss forward-looking strategies to strengthen science diplomacy’s role in governance.

Morning Session (9:00 – 11:30): Bridging Continents Advancing Science: The Future of Asia-Europe Science Diplomacy

Afternoon Session (14:00 – 15:30): Education and Research Networks: Paving the Way for Science Diplomacy, Enhancing Trust in Science for Governance, and Fostering International Relations

The third day comprises official side events of the World Science Forum, bringing together high-level panel participants to foster meaningful dialogue on science diplomacy and collaboration between Asia and Europe. These sessions gather esteemed policymakers, diplomats, academic leaders, and experts in science diplomacy to discuss key opportunities and challenges in advancing cross-border and cross-continental cooperation in science, innovation, research and education.
