Programme Information

Our MA in Communication and Media Studies will develop you into a communication and media expert.

You will hone essential soft skills (including presentation, persuasion and communication skills). You will also become a communications strategist and leader – capable of managing teams, projects, campaigns and organisations. Our graduates progress to careers in public relations (PR), media and marketing/communication roles in various organisations and sectors.

You will gain a deep understanding of interpersonal, social, strategic (planned) and new media communication, managing media and planning creative campaigns.
You will get acquainted with various concepts and theories through our student-centred, project-based teaching methods – making your learning experience more impactful, exciting and practical.

Our experienced professors blend academic and professional expertise to provide you with the tools and understanding necessary to advance in your career as a communication expert. From psychology to digital publics, you will better grasp how communication works and how to utilise your new skills to get the best possible outcomes!

This programme is a natural fit for students with an academic background in communications, media, PR or marketing. However, we accept graduates from an array of disciplines including liberal arts, economic sciences, law, IT, arts, communication and social sciences (provided you meet the compulsory credit requirements stated below).

Scholarships

There are two remarkable scholarship opportunities available to Non-EU international students:

• Stipendium Hungaricum (for non-EU nationals from >70 countries)
• Diaspora scholarships (for international students with Hungarian ancestry).

Both scholarships entitle you to:

• Free tuition for the duration of your studies
• 43,700 HUF (c. €120) per month for the duration of your studies (for living costs)
• University accommodation or an additional 40,000 HUF (c. €110) per month for the duration of your studies (accommodation allowance)
• Medical insurance.

Credit requirements

In Hungary, there are legal pre-requisite credit requirements to study graduate programmes.

Please make sure you meet the minimum requirements for this programme before applying.

The minimum number of credits for admittance into the Master’s programme based on previous studies is 30, from the fields of network communication, economics and management, HR, cultural anthropology, cultural science, communication, marketing, media studies, media culture, media literacy, work psychology, introduction to intercultural studies, art and art communication, linguistic sciences, international communication, special media studies, sociology, social psychology, and PR.

Tip: to quickly calculate your credits in ECTS, divide learning hours by 30!

Learning hours should be formally described, but can be constituted of classroom hours, private study and assessment.
