We are in the age of the data revolution. Economic analysts play a critical role in evidence-based decision making in multinational companies (MNCs) and governments or working as policy advisors.

As a student of our Economic Analysis programme, you will learn economic theory and tools of data analysis, with emphasis on economic policy analysis – all highly sought-after by employers. You can specialize as a firm and market analysis or macroeconomic analyst.

By the time you graduate you will be able to analyse complex economic situations. You will be adept at cultivating corporate and economic policy-making. You will provide high-quality analysis and aid decision making in any area of employment you pursue.

For admission onto the Economic Analysis programme, you will typically hold an economics, mathematics or finance degree, but students from other subjects are also welcome, if they have mathematical knowledge.

This programme may also be a good fit for you if you have a business-related academic background, such as Human Resources (HR), Business and Management, International Business, Commerce, Marketing, Accounting, Tourism or Business Informatics (provided you meet the compulsory credit requirements stated below).

Credit Requirements

In Hungary, there are legal pre-requisite credit requirements to study graduate programmes.

Please make sure you meet the minimum requirements for this programme before applying.

For entering the Master’s programme, a minimum of 80 credits is necessary from the following subject areas:

  • economics and social science studies (microeconomics, macroeconomics, economics, management) 50 credits;
  • methodology studies (mathematics, statistics, econometrics, decision science, and informatics) 30 credits.

The prerequisite of admittance into the Master’s programme is for the student to have at least 50 credits in the listed area based on his/her previous studies. Missing credits must be attained in the Master’s programme as defined in the higher education institution’s Study and Exam Regulations.

Tip: to quickly calculate your credits in ECTS, divide learning hours by 30!

Learning hours should be formally described, but can be constituted of classroom hours, private study and assessment.

Scholarships

There are two remarkable scholarship opportunities available to Non-EU international students:

  • Stipendium Hungaricum (for non-EU nationals from  over 70 countries)
  • Diaspora scholarships (for international students with Hungarian ancestry).

Both scholarships entitle you to:

  • Free tuition for the duration of your studies
  • 43,700 HUF (approx. €120) per month for the duration of your studies (for living costs)
  • University accommodation or an additional 40,000 HUF (approx. €110) per month for the duration of your studies (accommodation allowance)
  • Medical insurance

If you are interested in the economic processes surrounding your society and the effects of public policy on individuals, firms and markets, you will enjoy studying at the Economic Analyst MSc program. Our goal is to teach students to carry out high level economic analyis. This partly entails understanding economic theory and data analysis, but also soft skills, such as writing, presentation and team work. We offer two specializations: one in firm and market analysis and another in macroeconomic analysis. This knowledge opens doors at corporations, governmental and international organizations, but also at international PhD programs.
