    További információk a kutatásról: On 26 June 2003, the Agriculture Council of Ministers adopted a major reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The reform was directed towards decoupling farm incomes from the volume of production while at the same time more funds will be available for farmers for rural development programmes arising from the second pillar of the CAP. Th e project intends: To provide a comprehensive picture of the state of the art related to rural development measures and the main issues faced when addressing empirically regional development programmes in both the existing and the new member states. To provide a detailed database describing the economic transactions and interconnections between rural economic sectors as well as on the perceptions and intentions of rural stakeholders against the current and future reforms of the CAP. To quantify empirically the structural changes that will take place in the farming sector of selected rural areas around the EU initiated by the recent CAP reform.  To analyse the extent to which the new policy regime will indeed improve farmer’s economic performance and thus their competitiveness, as competitiveness is highly related to employment level.  To analyse and classify the existing rural development measures according to their potential of fostering employment generation in the countryside and to provide a quantitative assessment of CAP reform on the economic conditions of the rural areas, namely income and employment as well as on young people and women.  To provide an evaluation of the policy changes from the rural stakeholders point of view (i.e., farmers, entrepreneurs, farmers co-operatives, local authorities, local environmental organisations), and their effect upon rural employment generation.  To provide recommendations to policy makers on employment generating policy changes, based on the results of all assorted methods

    További információk a kutatásról: In spite of the trend towards increased specialization which has characterized farming in many European countries, most farms still have more than one enterprise. Yet, standard farm-accounting information is typically restricted to aggregate or wholefarminput expenditures, without revealing production costs per unit of eachenterprise’s output.The project intends:· To address the usefulness and appropriateness of the present FADN data systems to measure cost of production for agricultural commodities.· To study the feasibility of developing a “general” cost of production model for EU agriculture that is easy to use by practitioners and reliable in terms of generating relevant analysis for agricultural production and policy analysis.· To test and implement this cost model in an EU context with the idea in mindthat it can be applied on a large scale (i.e. several agricultural commodities and large number of member countries).· To assess the relationship between cost structure and farm performance, farmtechnology, environmental quality and farm heterogeneity with FADNdatabases.· To provide methodological improvements to the above “general” cost ofproduction model· To undertake the evaluation of agricultural policy measures using FADN data indicators.

    További információk a kutatásról: The European Master's programme in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Policy Analysis (AFEPA) aims at providing a high quality education in designing and assessing public policies targeted to the agricultural and food sector as well as the rural environment. This Master's programme responds to the increasing need to better understand and anticipate the various and often complex socio-economic and environmental effects of these policies either in a functioning market economy as in the European Union or in economies in a development or transition phase. The AFEPA programme offers a two-year academic curriculum with integrated and advanced theoretical, methodological and empirical courses in economics and quantitative methods as well as in agricultural, food and environmental sciences, agricultural and trade policy, environmental and natural resource policy, rural development policy and agribusiness management and market analysis. To connect theory and methodology to practice, a problem solving project is developed and presented as a master thesis at the end of the two-year curriculum.The AFEPA progamme is jointly organised by five leading European educational and research institutions: the Corvinius University of Budapest (CUB) in Hungary, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Sweden, the Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms Universität Bonn (UBonn) in Germany, the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Belgium and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Spain.
