Assistant Professor – ARH-137/2024

The Institute of Global Studies announces an open call for applications for the Assistant Professor position for 2 years definite period.

The starting date is the autumn semester 2025.

Job description and key duties:

Teaching duties:

  • Teaching subjects belonging to the education portfolio of the Institute of Global Studies and the Department of World Economics in weekly class hours as defined by the Academic Career Model, especially, World Economics, International Finance, International (or Global) Political Economy

Research duties:

  • Writing articles in prestigious international and domestic journals in the field of World Economics, International Finance and International Political Economy
  • Participating at important international conferences, building international scientific relationships, getting involved in research projects, active research application activity in the field of International and World Economics, thus securing the resources of the research projects and contributing to the internationalisation of the institute and the university.

Service duties:

  • Active participation in the professional life of the institute and the university, performing service tasks determined by the head of department and head of the institute, respectively.
  • Improving offline and online visibility of the Department of World Economy (by contributing to the organisation of events, improving social media platforms, etc.).
  • Mentoring BA and MA students preparing for Student’s Scientific Competition.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Doctorate in Economics or in (Global) Political Economy
  • Teaching and research experience gained in higher education
  • Adequately prepared to teach at the required level of standard (has the knowledge, experience, and foreign language skills) in the discipline of the courses
  • Research achievement, regular domestic and international publications
  • The candidate must meet the job requirements set out in the Corvinus Academic Career Model. 

Desirable criteria:

  • Feedback (student evaluation, evaluation of direct supervisor) verifying teaching excellence
  • International teaching experience
  • Experience gained in international research projects including ongoing research, publications under review, project proposal in progress
  • Experience in organisation of research projects
  • Participation in international conferences
  • Considerable publication results
  • MA degree or PhD obtained at a university with remarkable international ranking (ARWU) and/or work experience at a university with remarkable international ranking (ARWU)

Documents and certificates to be submitted as part of the application:

  • Curriculum Vitae including the detailed presentation of the teaching, research and service activities and results
  • Cover letter, including the presentation of future academic plans (educational, teaching development and research plans)
  • References written by at least two reputable leading professors or researchers of the discipline (signed, scanned)
  • Research paper
  • Description of respective courses taught by the candite (i.e. course syllabus, samples of teaching materials)
  • Scanned copies of the documents verifying the university degree, scientific rank (eg. PhD degree) and of the documents verifying other professional qualifications. (In case of scientific ranks obtained abroad, the nostrification will be arranged in the next phase of the selection procedure.)
