Department of Geography and Planning
The Department of Geography and Planning was established in July 2022 as one of the departments of the newly established Institute of Sustainable Development by splitting the Department of Economic Geography, Geoeconomics and Sustainable Development, which was established at the end of 2015.
The Department of Economic Geography, founded by noted geographer and former prime minister of Hungary, Pál Teleki in 1920.
The mission of the Department is to conduct research in the fields of spatial planning, regional studies and geostrategy to provide knowledge regarding spatial, developmental issues to students of the University’s business, economics and social science programmes. The basis for this is a cooperative, multi- and interdisciplinary scientific approach.
