Central and Eastern European Center for Household Finance
The Central and Eastern European Center for Household Finance (CEEC-HF) has been established at the Corvinus University of Budapest with funding for the project titled “Housing market & sustainability issues linked to dominance of housing asset in retirement portfolios” under the International Visegrad Fund. Led by Dr. Zsuzsa R. Huszár, and involving research team members Dr. Erzsébet Teréz Varga, Dr. Ágnes Vaskövi, and Dr. Zsuzsanna Tamásné Vőnekito, it addresses critical household finance issues in the Visegrad 4 (V4) countries—Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. CEEC-HF collaborates with academic partners from the University of Economics in Bratislava, Wroclaw University of Economics and Business, University of Economics in Katowice, Prague University of Economics and Business, and Tomas Bata University in Zlín. The project, spanning from Jan 2025 to Jun 2026, covers two academic workshops to address pressing issues tied to an aging population, the sustainability of housing markets, and retirement challenges specific to the Visegrad region. Interested parties are encouraged to check out the CEEC-HF website and contact the project team about attending the workshop.
Financial Clearing Research Lab
- Financial transactions involve a future payment obligation, until the settlement the parties face counterparty risk. The clearing mechanism is a key element in the functioning of financial markets, and it raises a number of theoretically and practically interesting research questions.
- The aim of the Financial Clearing Research Lab is to bring together Corvinus University of Budapest researchers working on this topic, to provide a framework for the discussion of related research ideas, and to facilitate collaboration between workshops within and outside the university.
Sustainable Finance Research Centre
The Sustainable Finance Research Centre, affiliated with the Institute of Finance, is at the forefront of addressing the intersection of finance and sustainability. Our center conducts empirical research on the impact of financial markets and investments on pressing environmental and societal issues. In the face of the climate emergency, we focus on redefining concepts such as asset ownership, shareholder value, and the true costs of funding. With a commitment to bridging the gap between research and industry practice, we strive to provide nature-positive solutions that contribute to a sustainable future for individuals, businesses, and governments alike.
