Office of Self-motivated Groups – ÖCSI

The main aim of the organisation is to integrate first-year students into university life. Our main events are the Közgáz Freshman Camp, Közgáz Freshers’ Ship, and the Közgáz Freshers’ Ball, but in addition to these, we try to make the first year of the University’s freshers more colourful with countless smaller camps and events.

Date of foundation:

Short introduction:

With nearly 200 members, ÖCSI is one of the largest student associations at Corvinus University of Budapest. Since 1972, we have been helping freshers integrate into university life through our various programmes. Our main events are the Közgáz Freshman Camp and the Közgáz Freshers’ Ball, but we also try to make the first year of the university’s freshers in bachelor study programmes more colourful with a number of smaller camps and events. Our large membership means that the instructor community is very diverse, and the organisation offers everyone the opportunity to develop and test themselves through its sections. Being a member of ÖCSI is a way of life, as we spend a significant part of our university years with the organisation at our public events and our own networking programmes and workshops.

Activities

We offer various programs during the whole year:

We start off with Freshman Camp every August, followed by the Registration Week’s team building activities. During autumn the AfterGlow Days and the Freshmen’s Boat Party take place but our biggest hit is the Freshmen’s Ball which is East-Central Europe’s largest party event organized in a historical building.

Spring is mainly about accepting new members to our organization, although we never forget about the Carnival in February! After everyone’s successful exam period we begin to get ready for the Freshman Camp with lots of preparation throughout the summer so the newly accepted students have an unforgettable week in August and a chance to make friendships for a lifetime.

Informations for new members

We are looking for students who are not afraid of problem-solving and challenging themselves. ÖCSI’s main values are: open-mindedness, flexibility, creativity and a willingness to always improve. We are a supportive community which means that anyone who is interested can join us! From February to May, weekly programs and camps at weekends are awaiting those who are interested in event organizing and would like to learn more about the organization.
