Scholarships
There are two remarkable scholarship opportunities available to international students:
- Stipendium Hungaricum
- Diaspora scholarships
Eligibility requirements apply, so please read the information below and on the websites carefully.
Things to keep in mind:
- Key deadlines – do not miss any!
- Scholarships are not guaranteed – you must be nominated/selected and meet our admission requirements
- Living costs in Hungary are generally higher than living costs and accommodation allowances provided
- Travel costs are not covered by the scholarships.
Stipendium Hungaricum
Non-EU nationals may apply at the official webpage. Applications will be open from mid-November 2021 until mid-January 2022 for September 2022.
Eligibility is subject to:
- Nationality
- Programme applied for
- Successful nomination
The scholarship entitles awardees to:
- Free tuition for the duration of your studies
- 43,700 HUF (c. €120) per month for the duration of your studies (for living costs)
- University accommodation or an additional 40,000 HUF (c. €110) per month for the duration of your studies (accommodation allowance)
- Medical insurance.

Diaspora scholarships
Non-EU nationals with Hungarian heritage may apply at its official website. Applications will be open from mid-November 2021 until mid-January 2022 for September 2022.
Eligibility is subject to:
- Nationality (including proving proof of Hungarian ancestry and living a minimum of 10 years outside of Hungary)
- Programme applied for
- Successful selection
The scholarship entitles awardees to:
- Free tuition for the duration of your studies
- 43,700 HUF (c. €120) per month for the duration of your studies (for living costs)
- University accommodation or an additional 40,000 HUF (c. €110) per month for the duration of your studies (accommodation allowance)
