Business Ethics Center

The Business Ethics Center was established in 1993. Since 2002 it functions as an autonomous organizational unit of the university. The mission of the Center is to promote ideas, models and techniques of business ethics in higher education, academic research and business life.

From the beginning an International Advisory Board helps the activities of the Business Ethics Center. Its members include Professor Edwin M. Epstein (University of California at Berkeley), Professor Stefano Zamagni (University of Bologna) and Professor Henk van Luijk (1930-2010) (Nijenrode University).

The functioning of the Center is based on the conviction that ethics is a relevant aspect of all levels of economic activity, from individual and organizational to societal and global. Complex economic problems require using approaches and models from economics, management, psychology, ecology and ethics. Business ethics is practiced by the Center as a transdisciplinary  inquiry where critical-analytical and action-oriented  knowledge can be creatively connected.
