Associate Professor – ARH/71/2024

Corvinus University of Budapest has over a 100-year-old history and is one of the leading universities in Hungary in Business and Management, Economics, and Social Sciences.

The Institute of Data Analytics and Information Systems announces an open call for applications for the Associate Professor position for an indefinite period. The start date in this role is the autumn semester of 2024.

Job description and key duties:

Teaching duties:

  • participation in the teaching, organisation and development of subjects related to probability theory, linear algebra, analysis

Research duties:

  • participation in the research activities of the institute
  • national and international research projects, publication (Q1-Q2) in international journals

Service duties:

  • participation in scientific professional conferences and events

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Doctorate obtained at least 3 years ago
  • Sufficient teaching experience gained in higher education: minimum 400 contact hours in sum, from which 40 in a foreign language (for Hungarian candidates preferably in English/German)
  • Research activity (on an international level) and publication of research results in highly ranked international scientific journals: at least 3 international papers
  • (written in English) in the research area of the applicant from which at least 1 Q1 or 2 Q2 in the year of publishing (no predatory journal), from the Q1 and Q2 papers the aggregate number of authorship, calculated by the CKK formula should be minimum 1.0 Minimum 10 independent international, Scopus citations
  • H-index: minimum: 4 (according to MTMT or equivalent)
  • Talent management: Officially involved in the supervision of at least 1 doctoral student (co-supervision is possible), or as senior researcher works with a junior researcher, or supervisor in the student competition or principal investigator of a project which involves junior colleagues or PhD students to introduce/improve them to/in research.
  • In case of external candidates: student evaluation, min. 4.0 (or equivalent, 80%) in the last 3 years
  • In the case of Corvinus candidates: CTE “basic requirements”: a score of at least 21 (on a -24 – +24 scale) and in the overall CTE score the candidate has to be above the bottom 15%,

Desirable criteria:

  • Research activity with international impact, substantial international citation, H index of at least 7 (verifiable)
  • Successful applications for scientific grants, like the Bolyai Research Grant, OTKA
  • International embeddedness, regular participation in international conferences, membership in international networks
  • Experience in organising scientific events (conferences, thematic schools, workshops, online research seminars)
  • Referee for journals/or membership in the editorial staff of domestic and international journals

  • Curriculum Vitae including the detailed presentation of the teaching, research and service activities and results
  • Summary table of achievements (Please fill in the Excel Summary Table for associate professor applications – you can find it at the bottom of this webpage)
  • Assessment sheet for associate professor applications (please fill in the Excel Assessment Sheet)
  • Cover letter, including the presentation of future academic plans (educational, teaching development and research plans)
  • References written by at least two reputable leading professor or researcher of the discipline (signed, scanned)
  • Research paper
  • Scanned copies of the documents verifying the university degree, scientific rank (eg. PhD degree) and of the documents verifying other professional qualifications. (In case of scientific ranks obtained abroad, the nostrification will be arranged in the next phase of the selection procedure.)
