The ERS Hub will be presenting the University’s plans regarding our renewing sustainability strategy, after which participants will discuss the goals and indicators related to four action areas in a World Café-type workshop with the goal of collecting thoughts and recommendations on how to finalise our strategy.

The ERS Hub – responsible for the coordination of endeavors at our University in the areas of ethics, responsibility and sustainability – has been hard at work in the past months on a modernised sustainability strategy. Our community also has an important role in the formulation of the new strategy: through the ERS Agora event in january, everyone had the opportunity to share their ideas on the main goals of the strategy in the initial planning stage around the four themes of education, research, outreach and cooperation as well as operations and governance.

After using the experience gained at the Agora and integrating its inputs, the first draft of our sustainability strategy has been completed, which sets goals and indicators throughout the entire operation of the University around the four themes above as well as overall. As these will be common goals of ours as members of the community, we consider it important that anyone be allowed to participate and let their vocies be heard regarding the directions taken from the beginning of the planning process to the end.

In this spirit, as the next phase of our discussion, we are organising two workshops, one for our students on May 2 between 9:50 and 11:20, and one for our faculty and staff on May 2 between 13:30 and 15:00. The main goal of the workshops is to debate the draft of our sustanability strategy in order to validate the work done behind the scenes to aggregate the advice given by our community with current international standards and to ultimately finalise it in a way that best aligns with the needs of our community.

We once again invite all interested colleagues / students to join us in thinking about the specific directions that the University should take in its sustainability strategy and wether the final draft of our strategy reflects the values we wish to represent!
