In the beginning, nice solutions and unforced errors alternated on both sides, then boys “exploded" in the 3rd quarter.

The battle between the two prestigious universities of the capital started at a high tempo and was attended by a good crowd. In the opening period, the game was played with a narrow home lead for most of the game, but ELTE-BEAC held on to the lead. The half ended with an 8-2 home run and a 7-point Közgáz lead, but the second half could not put Közgáz’s confident victory in doubt. Árpád Galambos (13 points, 15 rebounds) scored a double-double for the home side and Balázs Bodnár (13 points, 12 rebounds) for the visitors.

Game result: Közgáz SC and DSK – ELTE-BEAC 95-71 (23-18, 22-20, 28-10, 22-23)

Team members: Richárd Csík, Dániel Szántó, Tamás Jenei Koppány, Bence Pfandler, Árpád Galambos

Replacement: Máté Csikós, Benedek Béres, Zsigmond Sólyom

Coach: Csaba Vladár

Csaba Vladár: “We tried to score easy baskets with fast starts from a tough defence, and we managed to do it most of the game, and when we played in a good rhythm, the triples fell. Still, we couldn’t sit back for a moment in the game, as we were up against a very tough ELTE team that played exceptionally well in spots in a good game, and I congratulate both teams for that.”

Zoltán Csányi, coach of ELTE-BEAC: “Basketball is a team game and as a team the opponent was better, congratulations to them for the win. We have good players, but as a team the game is just starting to come together. We are working on gradually improving and progressing in terms of team play.”
