The Research Management profession was also featured at the Researchers’ Night

The aim of the program entitled ‘Catalysts in Research: the Research Managers’ organized by the Research Management unit, the European Research Grant Office (ERGO) and the University Library was to explore along with the audience the skills necessary for researchers and research managers to be successful and effective and to promote the profession of research management. 

By the means of interactive exercises, the participants endeavoured to define the concept of research management and to identify the ways in which research support professionals can provide an added value to the work of researchers. There was also a lively discussion on the functioning and the actors of the research ecosystem. The programme concluded with a round table discussion, where panellists explored what makes collaboration effective between researchers and research managers and why these two professions can be attractive.  

The introductory, interactive program of the Researchers’ Night reinforced the view that, in line with international efforts, there is a need for a clear definition of the research management profession, and it is important to raise awareness of the various fields of expertise of research managers in the academic community.
