The event was opened by Dr. István Kónya, Dean of CDS, who welcomed the first-year doctoral students and the upper-year students. The event was attended by Dr. Tamara Keszey, Vice-Rector for Research, and the Heads of the four Doctoral Schools, Dr. Zoltán Balázs (Doctoral School of International Relations and Political Science), Dr. Zsuzsanna Elekes (Doctoral School of Sociology and Communication Sciences), Dr. Imre Fertő (Doctoral School of Business and Management) and Dr. Péter Csóka (Doctoral School of Economics and Business Informatics), who welcomed the doctoral students with motivating words.
Representing the Office of the Doctoral Schools, Zsuzsa Horváthné Krista, Head of the University Doctoral Office, said a few words about the procedure of doctoral administration and what questions the staff members can be contacted with, who are doing their best to help solve any issues that may arise.
The speech of the managers was followed by a presentation by Rawand Ben Brahim, a doctoral student at Corvinus, representing the National Association of Doctoral Students (DOSZ), on the DOSZ organisation and its ambassador programme, which provides an excellent opportunity for the integration of international students.
At the end of the formal opening of the event, the PhD Student Union’s newly formed Delegates’ Meeting was introduced: Diána Beke (representative of the Doctoral School of Business and Management), Alexandra Bagi (representative of the Doctoral School of Sociology and Communication Sciences), Ádám Tenczer (representative of the Doctoral School of International Relations and Political Science), Gábor Varga (representative of the Doctoral School of Economics and Business Informatics) and Krisztofer Szabó (President of the PhD Student Union).
The representatives explained, among other things, the tasks, competences and objectives of the PhD Student Union, and that this academic year they plan to organise various professional and community programmes for PhD Students.
Following the opening ceremony, students were invited to a buffet reception, where they had the opportunity to have informal discussions with the Heads of the Doctoral Schools, the programme directors, the representatives of the PhD Student Union and to expand their network of student contacts. The PhD Student Union would like to thank the PhD Students, the Heads of the Doctoral School and the Corvinus Doctoral Schools for their participation and support in making the event possible.
