Corvinus Continues Collaboration with the University of Chicago on Fertility Research

Several webinars and a major conference are scheduled for this year.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

Corvinus University of Budapest, in partnership with the Center for the Economics of Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Chicago, is continuing its long-term research collaboration in 2025 with additional webinars and a major conference hosted by the University of Chicago.

Initiated by the Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies (CIAS) in 2024, the project—Family, Fertility, and Human Development Initiative—examines the causes, consequences, and policy implications of declining fertility rates.

A key achievement of the initiative is that it is personally led and supervised by Nobel Laureate economist James Heckman, the director of CEHD. In recognition of his contributions, Corvinus awarded Prof. Heckman an honorary doctorate in December 2024.

Since the launch of the collaboration, several webinars and an international conference have taken place, featuring renowned economists, sociologists, and demographers.
