The effects of smartphones on our daily lives and the connections of artificial intelligence and human intelligence are the central topics of a newly published booklet from Corvinus University of Budapest, which presents the winning writings of the First Corvinus Blog Post Competition. The booklet entitled ‘Self, Screen, Success’ is already available at the university library — it can be downloaded here. The volume was edited by Admilson da Veloso and Tünde Taxner.

In addition to the five articles that won the competition, the booklet also contains the opening speech of the award ceremony from prof. dr. Petra Aczél. Addressing the issue of “what the next big thing” will be when it comes technology, the Communication Science specialist explains that, besides all sophisticated gadgets or high-tech machines, the future of our societies is also directly connected to the human knowledge and potential.

The blog post competition

The first Corvinus Blog Post Competition invited university students in Hungary to express their opinions and thoughts in a short essay in English on current issues of new media and mobile technology. The contest was initiated by Dr. Ágnes Veszelszki and it was organized in the fall semester of 2021 by the Institute of Communication and Sociology together with the Department of Communication and Media at the Corvinus University of Budapest.

Altogether 24 university students from diverse nationalities, who were studying in Hungary in that semester, participated in the competition. The winners received vouchers and publication opportunities. The top five winning writings can be read here in the booklet.
