The team from Corvinus University of Budapest, traditionally performing well in this competition, has once again won the Hungarian round of the CFA Institute’s global equity research competition.  and will represent Hungary in the online sub-regional round in March.

The CFA Institute, based in the United States, and the CFA Society Hungary organized the CFA Institute Research Challenge for the 16th time in the fall of 2024. In this competition for university students, teams of 3-5 members had to analyze the AutoWallis Group in a written report and formulate an investment recommendation for its shares listed on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT). The top four teams from the written round advanced to the final, held on February 4, 2025, at the Budapest Stock Exchange.

In the oral final, teams had to convince the professional jury of the soundness of their recommendations and the thoroughness of their analyses through a 10-minute presentation followed by a Q&A session. The jury was chaired by István Máté-Tóth, Deputy CEO of the BÉT, who highlighted during the announcement of the results that all teams performed exceptionally well, with the winning team standing out due to its expertise and persuasiveness during the presentation.

The first-place Corvinus team consisted of István Faragó, Nándor Illés, László Palásti, Sámuel Patyi, and Róbert Rácz. Their mentor was once again Péter Juhász, PhD, CFA, Associate Professor at the Institute of Finance. The second place went to students from Budapest Metropolitan University, while the third and fourth places were awarded to two teams from the University of Pécs that made it to the final.

Róbert Rékási, CFA, CIPM, President of CFA Society Hungary, noted that the winning team will represent Hungary in the sub-regional online round in March. The winner of this round will advance to the European final in early April, with the global final scheduled to take place in early May in Chicago.
