WAMP design market – Varga Tamás

WAMP, according to their own description, is a social place, where the artist, the buyer, the creative professionals and the interested non-experts can meet up. This way, design for them is not an abstract artistic concept, but an exciting opportunity that can be sneaked into anybody’s life. In line with this, Hungarian artists present their limited edition products whether it is about clothes, interior design items or jewelry. With the help of their monthly held markets, they offer a sustainable and human-centered alternative in contrast to mass-produced objects of shopping malls. Their Christmas themed fair will be available on December 8. and 15. at Eiffel Műhelyház. Two roundtable discussions will be held on the first Sunday, one of which is going to be about eco-friendly shopping, while the other about the topic of art as an expressive tool. Christmas market in Brno – Izrael Gréta

For those who want to truly explore the culture of the Czech Republic, but would prefer not to go as far as Prague, Brno would be the best choice of destination. The country’s second biggest city can be reached easily by public transport, since the trains going to the capital are all passing through this city too. The city amazes visitors year by year so much that it even won the title of “Europe’s favorite Christmas capital”. The judges of the European Parliament give this nomination to Christmas markets that are not only well organized and breathtaking, but also to ones that showcase Christmas traditions and Christian values. This year’s Advent period is extremely important to the Southern Moravian town, as it has been exactly 100 years since the lights on the first public Christmas tree lit up. In honor of this memory, this year they even surprised us with a light-park, through which visitors can get to know the town’s historical background. Above all of that, their Christmas market has a lot to offer too, since besides craftsmen and delicacies they have an ice rink and a Ferris wheel. In order for visitors to truly feel the spirit of the holiday of love, musical shows are also on display.
