“In the past, our books used to end up in the waste processing plant, but now we’re giving them a happier fate, anyone can take them home in the spirit of sustainability,” said Judit Tóth, coordinator of the library’s green working group, who added that they also want to promote summer reading with their initiative.
Old books that are destined for a better fate or have just been given as gifts can be taken home from the shelves outside the library during the summer opening hours.
The campaign will run for a month, until 20 July, as the library will be closed from 21 July to 27 August.
