Want to do something for your community, but don’t know where to start? You could start with something as simple as a sandwich… The Corvinus Science Shop is now offering an opportunity to do just that with an afternoon program.
On 14 November, we are organising a sandwich-making volunteer activity for Corvinus students: an afternoon of doing good and getting to know the Budapest Bike Mafia, or BBM, the community partner of the Corvinus Science Shop.
What is the Budapest Bike Maffia?
Their core activity is to support marginalised groups, children, adults, families and social institutions in need. In addition to donations of goods and food, they also enrich the lives of people in social care with experiences that the institutional system cannot provide, whether it’s a multi-course restaurant dinner in a women’s shelter, a fun activity for homeless people like a vacation at Lake Balaton, or the creation of small gardens near hostels – they write on bikemaffia.com
What is the activity?
Yes, sandwich making. Working together as a group, using the materials and tools provided at one of BBM’s locations, where you can get insight into how they operate and the activities they offer to businesses. The volunteers’ work will end with a quiz game, and the sandwiches will be distributed by the Budapest Bike Mafia to homeless and needy people around the city.
