The funeral of György Meszéna

The Professor Emeritus, who has died at the age of 93, is honoured upon his death by the Corvinus University of Budapest.

György Meszéna graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the BME between 1956 and 1966. In 1961, he came to Budapest to work as an assistant professor at the Department of Mathematics of the MKKE, the predecessor of Corvinus University. From the very beginning he played a decisive role in the teaching of probability and mathematical statistics, later in the establishment of the Department of Design Mathematics and in the leadership of several professional organisations. He retired as a senior lecturer in the Department of Operations Research and Actuarial Sciences at the University of Zurich. He is Honorary President of the Society for Economic Modelling. He has been awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary for his work. The Corvinus University of Budapest considers him its own dead. 

His funeral will be held on Monday, 21 October 2024, at 2 pm, in the Church of St. Gellért in Budapest or in the cemetery (Bartók B. XI., 149 Bartók Street). 

At the request of the family, mourners are asked to bring a maximum of one flower. After the service, everyone is cordially invited to an informal discussion in the church fellowship hall.
