Approaches to the history of economic and sociological theory
A joint book launch and workshop was organized by Prof. Tamás Demeter (Department of Political Science) on the 28-29/1/2022. The participants discussed the chapters in Humanity and Nature in Economic Thought (Routledge, 2022, ed. by G. Bíró), and the draft chapters of the forthcoming The Sociological Heritage of the Scottish Enlightenment (Edinburgh University Press, 2023, ed by. T. Demeter and E. Schliesser).
The book launch began with reflections by invited participants, including Zoltán Pogátsa, Péter Hartl, Emília Barna and Dávid Kollár that were followed by replies from, and open discussion with the contributors, including Helen McCabe, Hilton Root, Craig Smith, Ted Winslow, Gábor Bíró and Tamás Demeter. The workshop focused on pre-circulated chapters of the forthcoming book. Following a concise presentation of the central ideas and structure of each chapter, the contributors discussed them in detail. Participants included John A. Hall, Kenneth Macdonald, Catherine Dromelet, Spyridon Tegos, Craig Smith, Dirk Schuck and Tamás Demeter. The events took a hybrid format combining real life and online participation.
