The antidote to digital noise, a favourite of MBA students – Index.hu visited Makerspace

Dávid Pap, professional leader of Corvinus Makerspace, and Zita Komár, assistant professor, one of the visitors of the creative space, spoke to one of the most read news portals of Hungary.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

Today’s article gives an overview of the Makerspace opened this year on Corvinus’ Gellért Campus. According to the head of the professional workshop, the place has two important messages: on the one hand, students usually have little or no experience in technologies at a university of conomics and social sciences, production technologies can be talked about in general, but learning how to design and create something in practice is no longer possible. Here, however, it is interesting and useful to experience and learn how to create tangible objects. On the other hand, Makerspace has a very useful message:

We live in a digital world with digital noise, and we can devote very little time to everything, so it’s ideal if you can get out of it. And it’s great to be surrounded by flesh and blood people and to be able to create together.

He added:

It was an interesting experience how corporate middle and senior executives participating in the university’s MBA program loved the programming course given to them and asked how it could be repeated.

Zita Komár, assistant professor at Corvinus’ Department of Marketing and Design Communication also emphasized to Index that for her, as a teacher and individual, one of the greatest advantages of the community space is that they do intellectual work, and yet they can see the whole process step by step, as they actually use a technology.

This tangibility is often sorely lacking in today’s world.

You can apply for Makerspace’s 16 programs here   – it is open to students, faculty and staff as well.
