Melegh has been elected as a member of Academia Europaea, a prestigious association of eminent scientists and scholars from Europe and beyond. Following a rigourous selection process endorsed by the Board of trustees, professor Melegh will have the honor of meeting fellow scholars and presenting his research at the 2024 annual conference in Wroclaw, Poland, scheduled for November.

Furthermore, we’re delighted to announce that Melegh has been appointed as the seventh Vienna Karl Polanyi Visiting Professor for the upcoming summer term of 2024. During his tenure in Vienna, Professor Melegh will lead a PhD seminar on “Global Social Change and the Migration Turn”, open to students from Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), University of Vienna, and Central European University (CEU), including master’s students from the University of Vienna and CEU. Additionally, he will conduct an internal workshop at CEU and deliver an open lecture. Participants will explore dynamic historical sociological analysis, population discourses, and the interplay of migration and globalization, aiming to foster critical perspectives on contemporary debates in migration, politics, and socio-economic challenges.
