As it is now, and as it will be – the Campus at Ménesi út

2023-04-11 11:43:07

In the next semester, we will open the new University Campus presently under construction at Ménesi út.

The project to design the Ménesi Campus of the Corvinus University was kicked off by the University in 2020. The process called Internal World Project involved both lecturers and students. In the renovated building, education will start in the spring semester of academic year 2023/24. The functions of the buildings include spaces for education, social, research and innovation purposes and even for sports.

When designing the campus, altogether five aspects were taken into consideration. One of the key points was sustainability, so we used solutions that minimise energy consumption and reduce the emission of harmful substances. The objective is to make sure that after its opening, the building meets the criteria of the Leed Gold certification and the AA+ certificate, which means extremely high energy efficiency.

The next aspect we considered in the design of the new campus was the principle of non-triviality, in other words, we wished to create a non-ordinary environment that gets you out of the groove and encourages creative thinking. We want to give more than inspiration to our lecturers and students, this is why the aspect of cosiness also plays an important role in the new Campus, wishing to offer an inspiring, as well as comfortable environment. We kept that in mind in the establishment of the 180 places in the dormitory and in the planning of community and other spaces, too.

The principle of transparency was also applied in the formulation of the spaces, so that joint thinking would not be restricted in any way. Mobility and flexibility also play very important roles in the formulation of the built spaces, i.e. some of the rooms and the furniture may be tailored to the needs of people using them.

The opening of the new Campus will not only mean a quality improvement in the spaces of the University, but will perform new functions, too.  The sports centre offering various sports facilities will occupy 1,600 m2, while the park around the building will add a green area of 11,000 m2 to the locations of free-time and community programme options.
