The Corvinus University's Buda Campus has received yet another sustainability award: it has been named the winner in the "green category" for high-rise buildings by Hungary's professional construction organization.

The National Association of Construction Contractors (ÉVOSZ) annually recognizes the most valuable construction projects and initiatives of the past year at its year-end general assembly. At this year’s event, held on December 12, the Corvinus Gellért Campus, known for its innovative and inspiring spaces, received the Green Building of the Year Special Award in the high-rise building category. The award was presented by László Koji, President of ÉVOSZ, and Dezső Kovács, Chairman of the ÉVOSZ Green Working Group. It was accepted by Tibor Misovicz, Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Maecenas Universitatis Corvini Foundation, which maintains the university, and who oversaw the project on behalf of the foundation. The design work was carried out by Lean Tech Mérnökiroda Kft., a subsidiary of Market Építő Zrt.

Sustainability and achieving the highest level of energy efficiency played a key role in the planning and construction of the building complex, making it the only higher education facility in Hungary to earn LEED Gold certification. Energy efficiency considerations are evident in the selection of building materials and insulation, the external shading systems, the heat pump-based heating system, the heat recovery ventilation systems, and the solar panel installations that partially supply the campus’s energy needs. These features have contributed to the new, modern Gellért Hill campus of Corvinus University becoming the most sustainable educational building in the country.

In September, the Gellért Campus also received the Green Investment of the Year award from Green Cloud, Dandelion Group and Portfolio Group.
