Corvinus Educational Technology Portfolio Expanded with Two Rooms Suitable for Hybrid Education

Hybrid rooms enable students to get involved in seminars from remote locations and participate in classroom discussions and group work, while a group of students – and also the lecturer – are present in person in such rooms.

Currently, Corvinus has two newly furnished hybrid rooms, each with a capacity of 40 people. In this way, Corvinus can, on the one hand, ensure the participation of foreign students who are at remote locations due to entry restrictions in Hungary or groups of company employees attending specialist postgraduate programmes, and, on the other hand, enjoy more leeway when organizing diverse domestic or international professional programmes.

Built-in camera and microphone systems will broadcast what is happening in the room, and a video connection will allow attendees to join in from remote locations and be seen by the lecturer and students present in the room. Video streams will, by default, show the lecturer, students, or just the board, but it is also possible to share a computer screen.

A display (98”) mounted on the back wall of the room can function as an extended monitor for the lecturer’s computer. In each room, the presentation and image of a lecturer connecting through Teams can be projected and a lecturer’s presentation can be shown simultaneously for attendees present in the room and at remote locations. A space microphone mounted on the ceiling is capable of transmitting the voice of all attendees in the room at high quality, automatically giving priority to the lecturer’s space. Through speakers mounted on the wall, the voice of participants at remote locations can also be heard.

These rooms, equipped with built-in technology, can ensure the required reliability and speed of the virtual connection and the required image and sound clarity, thus increasing the quality of education. A most possible efficient use of the opportunities offered by these hybrid rooms will also give an incentive to the development of new teaching methodology solutions.
