On 7 October, the Hungarian Design Awards were presented at the opening event of Budapest Design Week, where the Corvinus University of Budapest’s new image won the visual communication category. The winning image is the work of Salt Communications Kft., its creators are Lőrinc Balogh, Botond Burus, István Nagy and Máté Serflek.
The process of Corvinus’ image change started in the summer of 2020, and the University selected the winning concept in a multi-round competition. In addition to the President and the Rector of the University, the decision process involved the heads of the institutes and the communication and marketing experts of Corvinus.
The winning image concept was created by Salt Communications Kft. The design team developed its concept based on the interviews with managers and students, as well as brand research conducted with more than 30 Hungarian secondary schools. The entire design process was conducted in collaboration with the university’s experts.
The central element of the visual system is the raven with a golden ring in its beak, the heraldic animal of one of Hungary’s most successful rulers, Mátyás Hunyadi. The motif not only evokes one of the most prosperous periods of our country, the era of Mátyás Hunyadi, but is also a symbol of the acquisition of knowledge as a treasure. The entire image system meets the requirements of authenticity, professionalism and timelessness.
The exhibition of the winners and the most outstanding entries is open until 17 October at the Société Budapest convention centre, the central venue of Budapest Design Week.
Soon we will be able to cheer on Corvinus’ image in another prestigious professional competition, as it was also shortlisted for the large design category of the RGB Creative Design Award competition of Kreatív magazine. The award ceremony will take place on 20 October, and the shortlisted entries can be viewed here.
