Corvinus PhD Students to Telex: It Requires Scientific Curiosity, but It’s Also Monetizable

It’s worth pursuing a PhD even with a successful business career – this is the headline of an interview published yesterday by Telex with two of our alumni PhD students, who decided to pursue their doctorate at Corvinus despite having very different professional backgrounds.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

Kristóf Antal, a business informatics specialist, with two decades of consulting experience, felt that balancing his workdays between business tasks and studying was worth it. The academic title will not only bring prestige in the business world but will also open up new avenues for potential partnerships through research connections. During his PhD studies, he can teach what he knows from practice and further develop his own business, all while engaging in unique international research representing Corvinus.

Antal Ertl, an economist and analyst, has always wanted to be a scholar and a teacher. As he explores the economic logic behind our behavior, he gets to spend his days in an intellectually stimulating environment, dedicating his attention to topics that few are addressing in Hungary. His livelihood is supported not only by the Corvinus Doctoral Scholarship but also by the University Excellence Scholarship Program, which not only provides financial support but also encourages the timely completion of research.

They share with the Telex reporter how much time postgraduate education requires, what they gained from the experience of having to teach, and, of course, the financial aspects: what does a PhD student live on?

If you feel drawn to the PhD path but are still hesitating, read their stories, and don’t hesitatethe application deadline is March 18!
