The conference developed from an idea of the Hungarian student community in Cambridge.

The 2023 Future: Hungary conference was held on 1 April, where the Rector of our University also gave a presentation. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Előd Takáts talked about the international successes of Corvinus University and the comprehensive transformation of the university. He highlighted how the experience gained abroad has helped the University’s successfully reform.

The Future: Hungary conference grew out of the idea of the Hungarian student community in Cambridge and has become a major event for Hungarian students living abroad. The conference is attended by students from leading institutions abroad from universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, UCL, and King’s College.

Students have the opportunity to meet key figures from Hungarian academic and business life during panel discussions and lectures. In addition to university students, this year the Future: Hungary also focused on channelling in the “young professional” grous of the population, aiming to create a more comprehensive diaspora.

The conference features presentations by successful Hungarian leaders who, with their careers, can serve as role models for young Hungarians studying and working in the UK and help bring their knowledge to Hungary. This year, panel discussions focused on topics such as investment in Hungary, managerial responsibility, and the future of artificial intelligence.

The guests of the conference included Oxford neuroscience professor Péter Somogyi, former global vice president of Mastercard, Milan Gauder, Péter Fáykiss, head of the MNB’s Digitalisation Directorate, Dr. Ferenc Kumin, Hungarian ambassador to London, and previously, Hungarian president Katalin Novák.
