Two outstanding students from the Institute of Finance at the Corvinus University of Budapest, Aida Bolatkyzy (MSc Finance) and Mihály Fleiner (BSc/MSc Economic and Financial Mathematics Analysis), have been awarded scholarships to attend the prestigious “Frontiers in Economics Summer School” at Linacre College, University of Oxford. The training, organized from September 2-6, 2024, provides them with an opportunity to learn from world-renowned economists and participate in an intensive academic program.

The scholarships, offered by the Institute of Finance, cover the cost of participation, including accommodation and catering at the University of Oxford. Aida and Mihály were selected through a competitive internal call for applications, requiring them to submit motivation letters and recommendations from professors, followed by interviews with the selection committee. Besides them, other Corvinus students also attended the event as self-funded participants.

During their time at Oxford, the students learnt from distinguished faculty, including Prof. Richard Werner and Prof. Charles Goodhart, through lectures and seminars on contemporary topics in economics, finance, and banking. They also had the opportunity to participate in various extracurricular activities, such as guided tours of the historic Bodleian Library and an excursion to the iconic Blenheim Palace.

Attending the summer school represents a significant milestone in my academic journey, as it provides me with invaluable experiences and networking that will enhance my professional development

,says Aida, an international student beginning her second year of a master’s degree.

The Institute of Finance at Corvinus is proud to support its students, showing its commitment to nurturing future global leaders in economics and finance.
