Department of Sociology and Social Policy students performed outstandingly at this year’s OTDK

Congratulations to the winners and their teachers!

Similar to former years, the students of the Department of Sociology and Social Policy were highly successful at the National Conference of Students’ Scientific Associations (known by its Hungarian acronym OTDK).

Top rank or special prize was awarded for seven papers. Laura Jakab, who won first place, studied the impact of urban environment on the further educational aspirations of disadvantaged students. Borbála Szebik and Fanni Mária Puskás, who were awarded second place, analysed the ethnic identity of Roma university students. Dániel Kalotai, another second place winner explored the delay in seeking medical help in the Health Sociology section. Kata Mező, who studied the relationship between modern gender role perceptions and work, was awarded third place. Borbála Szebik and Kornél Kovács analysed the referencing habits of the Hungarian news websites. Another two sociology students were given special awards. As a remarkable achievement, Borbála Szebik, who submitted four TDK (Students’ Scientific Associations) papers, received altogether three awards.
