Dormitory application process renewed in 2024

You choose where you want to stay!  

Under the new system, you will be able to set your order of preference when it comes to application for student accommodation. Choose the dormitory you like best – Gellért, Kinizsi, Tarkarét or Ráday (unless your programme requires otherwise), – and specify your choices in order of priority in the application form.  

The scope of eligible applicants has been extended  

Good news for visiting students! From now on visiting students will also be eligible to apply for dormitory accommodation. With this step we are further expanding the scope of applicants, giving international students the opportunity to apply.  

Application in the Neptun system  

Applying will be quick and easy, as you can submit your application via Neptun. If you miss the main application period, don’t worry! You will be able to apply during the year, provided there are still places available.

Who is eligible to apply?  

– **Regular dormitory admission procedure**: Hungarian students living in Hungary or abroad, and foreign students outside the programmes.  

– **Foreign students**: students entering via programmes, such as Stipendium Hungaricum and Diaspora scholarship holders, and Erasmus, Bilat and CEMS participants.  

Important dates  

– **Publication of application**: 17 July 2024 (for all students)  

– **Application for dormitory accommodation**:  

– International students participating in specified programmes: 22-28 July 2024  

– For Hungarian and self-funded international students: 29 July-12 August 2024  

Key changes  

2024 brings a number of changes to the student accommodation system:  

– Extending the range of applicants: Erasmus, Bilat, CEMS, self-financed international students, other FOI students and part-time students will also be eligible to apply.  

– **Application platform**: All applicants (except SA, IOK, the Illyés Gyula programme, Student Associations) will submit applications via Neptun. A separate platform will be available for mid-year admissions.  

Fees

– Eligible periods for which you can apply:  

• One full academic year (fixed 10 months).  

Mid-year changes will be possible for students who have applied for 10 months and have been placed in the Tarkarét Dormitory, benefiting from vacancies due to withdrawal in other dormitories, and taking into account the order of preference specified in the application, and the number of persons allowed under the specific programme.  

• One full semester (fixed 5 months). Extension will be possible once, between 1-7 December based on an extension request submitted in Neptun.  Extension requests will not be accepted automatically.  

• The fees will be EUR and HUF based, with minor rounding. Those who pay their fees in EUR will pay EUR fees, and those who pay in HUF will be charged HUF fees.
