Holding evacuation drills will help us prepare for a possible real emergency, while allowing us to meet our legal obligations. During the exercise, you will get familiar with the fire alarm, evacuation routes from your workplaces, emergency exits leading to the outside, and, after leaving the building, the assembly point. During the evacuation drill, you will also practise how to leave the building as quickly as possible and through the shortest possible route in the event of a fire alarm.
In the event of a fire alarm, sirens will sound and you must immediately stop studying – or stop whatever activity you are doing – and leave the room you are in:
The direction of escape will be marked by escape route luminaries.
Assembly point during evacuation for each building:
During evacuation, you must not wait near the walls and entrances of buildings – in all cases, you must go to the assembly point. During a real incident, staying in the immediate vicinity of buildings may be dangerous for you and you may restrict the intervention of firefighting units.
A drill may be considered successful if all persons in a building – be it the University’s own employees, students, or employees of external specialist companies – have left the building within the standard evacuation time limit (8 minutes).
In the event of a fire alarm, lifts will not work, so you are requested not to attempt to use them during a drill or in a real situation!
The drills will take place on the following dates:
Thank you for your co-operation.
