The NHH International Case Competition took place from September 22 to 28, with participants from the world’s leading business schools. Our students, László Kruppa, Milán Porzsolt, Fanni Kondér, Gergő Knódel, were selected after successfully completing the Cases on International Business Strategy (CIBS)/ Cases in Business Strategy (CBS) course and the Case Track courses. Their mentor, Dániel Kostyal, provided invaluable support and guidance, helping the team prepare thoroughly for the competition’s challenging cases.
The team tackled two real-world business challenges: a 5-hour case from Highsoft, a Norwegian data visualisation company seeking to enter the Chinese market, and a 24-hour strategic case for DNV, focusing on developing a five-year growth strategy centred on deep domain expertise and recurring revenue.
For Milán Porzsolt, attending his first competition, the opportunity to network was invaluable: “It was an unforgettable experience. We received encouraging feedback, and the chance to engage with DNV’s global audit leader during the closing dinner was a highlight.”
László Kruppa added: “The organisation was excellent, and we really enjoyed ourselves throughout. Overall, we delivered strong solutions, and both we and our mentor, Dani, were satisfied with our performance.”
The competition offered not only intense academic challenges but also cultural immersion, as the team engaged in activities like a fjord cruise and a formal dinner with Bergen’s Deputy Mayor. These experiences contributed to the team’s cohesion and strengthened their performance.
Fanni Kondér found Bergen to be a captivating city and shared her thoughts on the team dynamics: “The city was stunning, and the people were incredibly welcoming. We arrived well-prepared, and the praise we received after the 24-hour case proved it. Most importantly, I built strong friendships with my teammates that will last beyond the competition.”
For Gergő Knódel, the experience was equally impactful: “It was my first case competition, and it was an incredibly positive experience. The feedback from the judges was encouraging, and it has motivated me to continue competing in the future.”
The week provided the perfect blend of intellectual challenges and cultural experiences, making it a highlight of the team’s academic journey. Their thorough preparation, combined with the guidance of their mentor, led to a strong performance that they were proud of.
We would like to congratulate the team and their advisor Dániel Kostyal for their remarkable achievements. Special thanks to the Case Track professors, mentors and alumni members for their continuous support in the preparation of the team. We look forward to seeing the continued success of our teams in future competitions!
