The budget of 5 billion forints provided by the Government as pre-financing for Horizon research projects has been available since April 13, said Balázs Hankó, State Secretary for Innovation and Higher Education, following his discussions with the researchers of the University of Óbuda, the University of Veterinary Medicine, the University of Debrecen and the Semmelweis University.
As he explained, the support provided by the Government will allow 9 Hungarian universities – with 12 applications – to take part in the research cooperation of the Horizon Europe programme as associates, and conduct international researches that will serve the benefit of the society and the economy. The immediate assistance by the Government is required because otherwise the affected universities would be unable to stay in the projects, as several deadlines related to commitments will expire in May.
Apart from the quick provision of funds, it was also agreed that the universities would get a supporting statement that can be presented to European partners and universities taking part in the consortia.
