In Hungary, only graduates of the one-year Master of International Accounting and Auditing can automatically receive an IFRS accounting qualification A one-year diploma in accounting and auditing in English provides full exemption from the exams for the IFRS accountant qualification, the government announced in a decree dated December 23, 2024. Under this new regulation, students who have successfully completed a one-year master’s course – provided they have a qualification as a management accountant – can apply for a state diploma of professional qualification and enjoy all the privileges that come with this qualification, essentially by submitting a single application. This is a great relief for students, since those who have already obtained a diploma in financial accounting already have the qualification of a management accountant on the basis of their previous diploma, and can immediately have this second qualification in their pocket on the basis of the diploma, just like those who have obtained a diploma in management accounting by other means.
With this decision, graduates with a Master’s degree in International Accounting and Auditing will be able to start working with this qualification, without having to take further courses or exams.
