It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Dr. György Mohai, economist, honorary associate professor, and former CEO of the Budapest Stock Exchange. He was at the age of 73.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

Dr. Mohai began his career as a lecturer at the Marx Károly University of Economics, specializing in corporate planning. In 1989, he was a founding member of Hungary’s first investment bank with an international background, CA-IB Rt., where he initially worked as Head of Research and later served as Deputy CEO. He played a key role in the stock market listings of several Hungarian companies, including Richter Gedeon and OTP Bank.

He was the initiator, founder, and from 1992 to 1996, the president of the Hungarian Association of Investment Analysts, which is the Hungarian member organization of EFFAS (European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies), an umbrella organization for national financial analyst associations in Europe.

His relationship with the Budapest Stock Exchange deepened from 2002 onwards. Initially, he served as an advisor to the exchange, then from 2004, as Deputy CEO. Between 2008 and 2012, he held the position of CEO of the Budapest Stock Exchange.

In 2004, in recognition of more than two decades of teaching, research, and organizational work, he was awarded the honorary associate professor title by Corvinus University of Budapest. Even after his retirement, he remained active in teaching at the university until 2019.

We will keep his memory in our hearts!
