Joint KUUBE product development project by engineering and business students

BKIK university partnerships.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

Cooperation between different disciplines and links between universities and businesses can provide a competitive advantage in the knowledge economy. Recognizing this, the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) is continuously developing its cooperation with universities in the capital. This includes a joint product development project between Corvinus University of Budapest (Corvinus) and Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME).

In the spring semester of 2025, students from Corvinus University will work together in the Business Start-up Concept course, while students from BME will work together in the Integrated Product Design Practice V course, forming inter-university and inter-professional teams on a real innovation challenge. The project is hosted by Kuube, a company developing smart street furniture, whose founder, Máté Gallai, monitors and supports the students’ work. Kuube is a successful example of how a domestically developed and manufactured product can achieve international success.

The teams are tasked with developing a smart product concept along different aspects of product development, including product design, materials technology and marketing, with design and manufacturing aspects taken into account. The project will be carried out under the professional mentorship of Dr. Attila Petheő Associate Professor (Corvinus) and Dr. Gábor Körtélyesi Assistant Professor (BME).
