On the occasion of the 15th of March, Minister of Finance Mihály Varga awarded the Hungarian Economy Prize to Dr. János Lukács, Professor and Head of the Department of Accounting at Corvinus University, in recognition of his exemplary teaching and scientific activities, professional knowledge and practical work in support of businesses over four decades, including his many years as President of the Hungarian Chamber of Auditors.
János Lukács graduated from the Marx Károly University of Economics and Business Administration in 1983. He is a chartered accountant and tax consultant. He worked as a research fellow at the University of Munich and the University of Stuttgart for three years as a TMB fellow, and since 1986 he has been working at the Department of Accounting of our University as an assistant professor until 1997, associate professor until 2017, and then as a full professor (since 2001 as Head of Department, between 2012 and 2022 as Head of Institute). He is a member of the council and the regular member of the Doctoral School of Business and Management and an elected senator of the University. He was President of the Hungarian Chamber of Auditors for eight years. He is currently the chairman of the Board of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the National Accounting Committee, a member of the editorial board of three journals, a member of the supervisory board of three companies, and an elected auditor of three universities.
