The internationally recognized British ranking organization Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published its 2025 subject rankings on March 12. In the global ranking for economics and social sciences, only two Hungarian universities were listed: Corvinus improved its position compared to last year, reaching 350th place—moving up 39 spots—while ELTE ranked between 501st and 550th.

In the specific field rankings, only two Hungarian universities made it to the Business and Management Studies category: Corvinus secured a place in the 351-400 range, while BME ranked 501550th. In the Economics and Econometrics category, Corvinus remained the only Hungarian institution included, ranking between 351st and 400th—an improvement of 50 places compared to last year.

For the first time, Hungarian universities were also included in the ranking of the best politics programmes: Corvinus and ELTE both secured their positions in the 301-400 range.

“The rankings reflect that Corvinus is not only a market-leading university in Hungary but also internationally attractive. This is the result of our conscious efforts toward internationalization and our commitment to quality. We continuously strive to integrate the modern knowledge and methodologies into our programs, ensuring that our graduates are well prepared as they embark on their careers”, said Bruno van Pottelsberghe, Rector of Corvinus University.

QS evaluated over 21,000 programs from 1,750 institutions in more than 100 countries, selecting them from over 5,200 universities. The rankings consider factors such as the citation frequency of academic work affiliated with the institution, employer opinions, academic reputation, the number of international students, and faculty qualifications.
