Renovation of the Ménesi Campus starting soon

The Maecenas Universitatis Corvini Foundation will set up a new training and innovation centre at the Ménesi Campus of Corvinus University. The winner of the open EU public procurement tender launched in July 2021 is Market Építő Zrt.

The Ménesi Campus will host a training and innovation centre unique in Hungary, inspired by world-class universities such as the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien and the University of St. Gallen. The Maecenas Universitatis Corvini Foundation will use HUF 12 billion subsidy from the central budget to implement the renovation project. The bidding phase of the tendering process launched by the Foundation closed on 26 August 2021. On 27 September the selection committee consisting of Trustee Members decided to award the renovation project to Market Építő Zrt. The renovation will significantly improve the building’s technical condition with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification unique in Hungarian higher education. The total cost of the project is net 13.9 billion forints.

The new Campus will create a future-oriented space for community experience and creative collaboration including new labs developed in university-corporate partnership and a real novelty, the Data Space for data science and data visualisation. In addition to the training and research facilities, the renovated/reconstructed building will also include a hostel, staff apartments and space for community, events, sports and recreational purposes.

The Ménesi Campus will be the first university facility in Hungary with a design fully respecting the aspects of sustainability. The interior of the new campus has been co-designed by a number of students, research lecturers and service personnel, i.e. the future users of the building. The renovation is expected to be finished in the 2nd quarter of 2023, after which the new training and innovation centre will continue to be an organic part of the city.
