The France Excellence Hongrie scholarships campaign for the 2025/2026 academic year is open

The scholarships are open to Master and PhD students and researchers studying at Corvinus University of Budapest in all scientific disciplines for study or research in France.

Application details:  

The conditions for applying for the scholarships are as follows:  

  • Secondary school education in Hungary and/or a bachelor’s degree from a Hungarian university,  
  • French citizens or French dual nationals are not eligible to apply for the scholarship. 
  • age limit 30 years, 
  • Proof of adequate knowledge of the language in which the training provided by the host institution is given (French or English), 
  • possession or preparation of a higher education diploma recognised by the Hungarian State, allowing enrolment in a course in France,  
  • enrolment in a course which is part of a 5-year university course based on the baccalaureate (BAC+5 in French),
  • submission of a complete application file. 

The scholarships are open to applicants who meet the following conditions:  

  • Students under 35 years of age residing in Hungary,  
  • French citizens or dual French citizens are not eligible to apply for the scholarship. 
  • Students who have completed at least one full cycle of higher education (bachelor’s or master’s degree) at a Hungarian university, 
  • students enrolled or about to enroll in a doctoral programme in Hungary;  
  • students who are willing to be accepted by a doctoral school in France; 
  • students who have or will have a double-entry (cotutelle) doctoral degree agreement approved or pending approval by the two institutions;  
  • students with an excellent academic record and strong motivation. 

Who can apply?  

  • PhD students studying in Hungary who are not enrolled in a French institution,  
  • researchers working in a university or research centre in Hungary.  
  • French citizens or French dual nationals are not eligible to apply for the scholarship. 
  • The title of “young researcher” or “certified researcher” is determined by the date of the doctoral thesis. The “young researcher” category is open to applicants who have defended their doctoral thesis less than 5 years before arriving in France, and the “confirmed researcher” category is open to applicants who have defended their doctoral thesis more than 5 years before arriving in France. 
  • In the case of applications of equal quality, priority will be given to Hungarian researchers residing in Hungary at the time of application.
